In December 2025, South Downs National Park Authority Planning Committee refused planning permission for a proposed new Lidl foodstore on Brooks Road, Lewes.
The reasons for refusal focused on design, neighbour amenity and heritage impact. Lidl is taking a fresh approach and has completely re-designed the plans to address these issues. All other matters including the principle of retail use on the site were confirmed as acceptable.
Lidl is preparing a new planning application and we would welcome feedback from the community on the updated designs.
